Yesterday, the Charlestown Fire District attended “Future Day” at the Chariho High School to highlight the CFD’s junior membership program. Students had the opportunity to not only learn about how they can serve their communities as a volunteer firefighter, but also about how joining a volunteer fire department could allow them to explore a possible future career in the fire service.

The Charlestown Fire District is actively recruiting 14-17 year olds to fill the role of “Junior Firefighter”. Not a resident within our District? No problem, the other Fire Departments within Chariho also have junior membership programs!

On the 25th anniversary of September 11th 2001, we are remembering the 2977 civilians, firefighters, military and police officers that died during the initial terrorist attacks. We are also remembering the thousands of other victims that have passed in the years since due to 9/11 related illnesses. Please keep the victims in your thoughts today.

We are fortunate to have a piece of steel from the World Trade Centers in front of the Cross Mills Station that is on display for the community to view.
