Centralia Firefighters Local 618 was proud to participate in the 99th Centralia Halloween Parade! This year’s theme was “Patriotic Pumpkins,” and our crew brought it to life with a pumpkin fire truck float that earned a trophy in our division.

Several of our members put in a lot of time and hard work to make the float a success, with a special thanks to committee chair Dakota Whritenour for leading the project.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made the 99th Centralia Halloween Parade another great year!

October is Fire Prevention Month!

This month, the Centralia Professional Fire Fighters Local 618 are proud to visit local schools and spend time with our community’s youngest members!

Our firefighters are giving presentations to students about fire safety, prevention, escape planning, and what to do in an emergency. We believe teaching children about fire safety at an early age can help keep them, their families, and our community safer.

A big thank you to our local schools and teachers for helping us make fire safety education a priority!

Stay safe, Centralia! And remember — fire safety starts with YOU!

Drafting Operations 🚒💧

Shift 2 spent some time today working on drafting operations, with training led by Lt. Hyde.

While hydrants are our primary water source for many fires in town, they aren’t always an option. When responding outside the city or assisting neighboring departments through mutual aid, crews may need to establish a water supply from a pond, lake, or other static water source.

Today’s training gave crews hands-on practice setting up a drafting operation, establishing a prime, and supplying the engine with a dependable water source without the use of a hydrant.

Training on these skills helps ensure our firefighters are comfortable with different water-supply options and prepared to adapt when the next call takes us beyond the reach of a hydrant.

Different water source. Same mission. Stay ready. 🚒💦

Training & Appreciation

A big thank you to Carter Hulsey for taking the time to work with Shift 1 and provide hands-on training with the acetylene torch.

Training like this helps our firefighters stay familiar with the tools and techniques needed to operate safely and effectively when the situation calls for it.

We appreciate Carter sharing his knowledge and helping keep our crews sharp and ready!
