Our 3rd Grade Leader Crew got their hands dirty making Fairview beautiful! They helped clear weeds from our old school garden beds and planted flower bulbs that will bloom in the spring.

A big thank-you to these students for their hard work and willingness to serve our school through the Leader Crew! We are so proud of the way they take initiative, work together, and help make Fairview a better place. Way to lead, Tigers! 🐯

We are set up and ready for the Scholastic Book Fair to start next Monday, October 26th!

Our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair is about more than finding a great new book to read. It also helps us put more books, resources, and learning opportunities into the hands of our students! Fairview receives profits from the Book Fair that we use to purchase items through the Scholastic Catalog. Over the past year, those profits have made a BIG impact on our school!

Here are just a few of the ways your support has helped:
📖 Over $2,100 in books for classroom libraries
📚 179 new books for our school library
🧪 STEM activities to support hands-on learning
🎁 Book giveaways for last year's 12 Days of Christmas
📚 A rotating bookshelf and new book display to showcase our collection
🛠️ Book repair supplies to help us keep books in good condition
🗂️ Browsing bins to make finding and checking out books easier for our students

Every purchase helps us bring more books and resources to our classrooms and library. Whether your family shops at the fair, shares the information with friends, or simply encourages your child to explore a new book, your support makes a difference!

🎃📚 How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? 📚🎃

Mrs. Reu and Ms. Leary’s 2nd grade classes brought a book to life with a little hands-on learning! After reading How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin?, students opened up real pumpkins to investigate what was inside. They scooped out the pulp and seeds, separated the seeds, and used tens frames to help them count their pumpkin seeds.

It was a fun way to combine reading, science, and math while learning a little more about pumpkins!

🩺 First Grade Doctor Day! 🩺

Our first graders wrapped up their learning about the human body with a fun-filled Doctor Day! Students rotated through each first grade classroom to participate in hands-on activities that brought their learning to life.

From putting together human body system puzzles and creating body systems with Play-Doh to examining X-rays, playing Operation, and learning about the importance of brushing their teeth and staying healthy, our students had so many opportunities to explore, create, and show what they know!

It was a great day of hands-on learning, problem-solving, and discovering just how amazing the human body is!

🏛️ Last week, our second grade Dual Language students wrapped up their Ancient Greece unit with a fun, hands-on challenge!

Students became engineers as they designed, built, tested, and improved their very own catapults! It was so much fun watching them work together, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life.

Between building, testing, and a few flying objects, things got a little busy! We may not have captured many pictures, but there was definitely plenty of learning, laughter, and excitement!

Who knew learning about Ancient Greece could be such a blast? 🏹 Our second graders sure did! 🎉

🎉 Fusion Fiesta: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎉

What a great time at our annual Fusion Fiesta! Families joined us for a fun-filled evening celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, complete with a piñata contest, Lotería, book creation, collaborative art, dancing, and nachos!

It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate culture, creativity, and connection. Thank you to all the families who joined us, and a HUGE thank-you to our amazing teachers and staff who worked hard to make this event such a success!

What a fantastic celebration of our school community! ❤️

Our first grade dual language students had a sweet time making Paleta Payasos! Students practiced writing simple sentences in Spanish by describing how their Paleta Payaso was feeling. After showing off their Spanish writing skills, everyone got to enjoy a Paleta Payaso of their own! What a fun way to combine language learning and a little treat!

Our first grade dual language students learned all about community helpers using the book "Mi Comunidad/My Community "by 123 Andrés!

After exploring the different people who help our community, students put their learning into action by writing sentences about the community members they see throughout Carthage.

We love seeing our students make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them!

🚦 96% ATTENDANCE = GOAL ACHIEVED! 🚦

Our students met our schoolwide attendance goal of 96% for August and September and that called for a celebration!

🦺 As a reward, Mrs. Hensley and Mrs. Mikhail joined dismissal dressed as traffic cones!

📸 Mrs. Mikhail may have been caught by the cameras… but Mrs. Hensley successfully escaped the paparazzi!

We are so proud of our students for showing up, learning, and making every school day count!

Keep showing up, Tigers! You never know what your next attendance goal success might bring! 😉
