We provide a variety of resources (info about community resources, opportunities to give and receive support, advocacy and various skills classes) to support people with disabilities in pursuit of increased independence.

**In Memory of Michael Douglas ❤️**

Some people leave a legacy that you can see. Others leave one that you continue to feel every single day. Michael Douglas did both.

Although Michael is no longer with us, his connection to Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living continues to have a lasting, day-to-day impact on our organization. His influence lives on in the staff he trained, the wisdom he shared as a trusted mentor, the friendships he built, and, of course, his ability to stir up a little “good bull” along the way!

Michael was part of the BVCIL family in a way that cannot be measured by titles or time. The lessons he taught, the relationships he nurtured, and the spirit he brought to our work continue to shape who we are and what we do.

We miss his presence, his friendship, and his unique way of making an impact. But we are reminded every day that a life devoted to others never truly stops making a difference.

**Michael may be gone, but his legacy is alive and well at BVCIL.** ❤️

A Special Brazos Valley Gives Giving Hour
Honoring Survivors. Celebrating Strength. Supporting Every Journey.
At BVCIL, we believe transportation is more than just a ride. It's a lifeline.
Throughout the years, we have had the privilege of transporting consumers facing cancer, kidney failure, and other chronic illnesses to lifesaving screenings, dialysis treatments, medical appointments, and ongoing care.
Every ride represents a person, a story, and a journey. Some journeys are filled with hope and healing. Others require extraordinary courage, strength, and perseverance.
As someone who has personally experienced breast cancer, this mission holds an especially meaningful place in my heart. I understand how important access to medical care can be.
During this special Brazos Valley Gives Giving Hour, we honor survivors, stand alongside those continuing their health journeys, and remember those we have lost.
We also celebrate the strength and determination of individuals living with chronic illnesses every day.
Because getting to care should never be the barrier to receiving it.
