Great coming up to door knock with a friend and great legislator, Scott Hilton. He is on the front line of ensuring our Georgia House Republican Caucus remains strong and in the majority, continuing to deliver safe communities, lower tax liability, and strong schools.

Awesome afternoon of knocking doors with my good friends and colleagues, Rep. Soo Hong and Rep. Steven Sainz.

REMINDER: Early voting ends this Friday at 7PM - make sure to VOTE this week! 🗳️🇺🇸

Absolutely correct assessment from my House colleague. Camden and Glynn showing up in this election, will decide our statewide officials.

What I’m not hearing from the City of St. Marys presentation on the proposed tax increase is any details on actual budget cuts, prior to a tax increase being the solution. Although general statements about cuts to proposed budgets have been made, reducing proposed spending does not constitute an actual cut. It’s like staying at home: “We didn’t make enough money this year, so maybe next year we won’t spend even more than we already are.” The solution presented in the city's words through Mr. Mahaney is, “a tax increase and selling some assets”p

The City Manager may be presenting it, but this is an elected official decision. This kind of difficult choice is exactly why you put someone in office; to trust them to treat your resources as their own. Failing to make every optional cut before coming to you for an increase is unacceptable. It wouldn’t be accepted of me at the state level; it shouldn’t be accepted at the local level.

Councilman Steven Conner, and Councilman Jeremy Nascimento, I believe, have committed to voting NO on the millage/tax increase. Though don’t take this for granted, reach out to them too.

I’m am not aware of a position against the tax increase from Councilman Artie Jones, Councilman Allen Rassi Jr., Councilwoman Patricia Lynn Keene, Mayor Pro Tem Chad Ingram or Mayor Lockhart. If there is a 3-3 tie, Mayor Lockhart would cast the deciding vote. Reach out to them, as I will.

I’d ask every taxpayer to ask their Mayor and Councilmembers this weekend: What actual budget cuts have you insisted on before voting to take more money from me through a tax increase?

I can say from personal experience, that there is not a more effective way to influence your representatives than to reach out by phone or by email directly. If you do not have a contact for every member that represents you, which is every member of Council, reach out to me. Those that may tell you the budget has already been decided, the budget can be amended to reflect a reduced revenue expectation at any point.

Thank you to the Tribune & Georgian for its 2026 Voters Guide and to everyone willing to step forward and serve our community. I recognize that I'm the sole candidate on the ballot for House District 180 only because of your trust and support. I don't take this lightly, and if re-elected, I plan to keep working hard for you and our shared interests.

When evaluating other candidates, my first question is whether they have a record of reducing the tax burden, or at least a clear commitment to doing so; I hope you ask this of each person on the ballot. Please also remeber thay Georgia remains a battleground state, and the quality of our statewide officials depend on us turning out to vote. There is no doubt in my mind that electing Rick Jackson for Governor is crucial to our state’s success. The Greater Georgia voter guide linked below is a pretty accurate reflection of how I intend to vote.

Please support our local newspaper by reading the full Voters Guide! I’ll also share my complete responses in my next constituent email update. To subscribe, message me your email address or contact [email protected].

Stop the tax hike!

Great decision from Mayor Pro Temp Chad Ingram. I fully support his leadership on this. At a time when every family is battling affordability, the first who should do more with less should be our governments.

He needs your help! St. Mary's residents, reach out to everyone on your city council, and let them hear your voice. If you need help with this, I will be forwarding all emails I get on this to them: [email protected]

Very appreciative to get this recognition at the same meeting where City of Kingsland, Georgia, fully rolled back their mileage rate! I can’t think of a better example of what pragmatic conservative local governing can do.

Thank you, Governor Brian Kemp, for leading the effort to bring relief to Georgia families. It’s because of conservative stewardship of our state dollars by the Georgia House Republican Caucus and our friends in the Senate that we can do this. Without appropriating YOUR dollars responsibly, we risk not having the financial health needed to respond to emerging and pressing needs.
