Life is heavy enough on its own, add the traumas, tragedies, loss of life and property, sadness, loneliness, depression and much more to it by being a firefighter and/or emt/medic and it can weigh on all of us.
Remember, you are not alone!
We are here.
Our Department Chaplain is here.
Our County Chaplain is here.
And we need you, here with us.
Reach out to any of us, we are here checking in, ready to support and encourage you when needed.

Just because it’s a “normal” day at the office
doesn’t mean it’s not heavy.

You’re allowed to feel it.
You’re allowed to talk about it.
And it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. 💛

A critical part of the firefighting efforts over the last couple of weeks was refilling the air tankers. Many were filled at the Airport, like this one being filled by Lt. Bennett with Engine 10, while others were filled at ponds throughout the area.

🔥 Update: Brantley County remains under a burn ban!
Governor Kemp has issued an executive order easing outdoor burning restrictions in parts of South Georgia.
Burning is still restricted in 17 South Georgia counties, including Brantley, as shown on the map below. These areas continue to face extreme drought and elevated wildfire risk.

🚒International Firefighters Day 2026
Shoutout to all our volunteers!

International Firefighters Day, first recognized on May 4, 1999, honours the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of those who protect our communities. It’s also a day to remember and honour those who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Today, we salute each of you for your service, commitment, and heart.

Over the last two weeks our county has seen the love each of you have for our community, neighbors, friends and family and your unwavering dedication to service. Thank you for what you do every day to help our community.

Monday, May 4:

🔥Long durations of critically low humidity values are expected throughout inland portions of southeast Georgia and the Suwannee Valley this afternoon.

⚠️ These low humidity values, in combination with ongoing drought conditions, could cause new or existing wildfires to quickly spread.

🍂 Wildfire Safety Tip - Maintain a Defensible Space: Clear area near your home of leaves, dead vegetation & other combustible debris to reduce sources of fuel. Keep vehicles off of dry grass.
