To support, educate, and advocate for individuals affected by mental illness in Wood County.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)3 grassroots national organization, founded in 1979. NAMI is comprised of family, friends and consumers affected by an emotional/mental/ neurobiological brain disorder. These disorders can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel and relate to others, which can result in diminished capacity for coping with ordinary demands on life. NAMI Wood County is your local contact agency providing compassion, hope, education, coping skills and advocacy to families, friends and those with neurobiological brain disorders.

At NAMI Wood County, we know connection, comfort, and support matter. That's why we are seeking a Chief Cuddle Officer to support staff, boost morale, and provide emotional support as needed. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

✅Supervising snack breaks
✅Participating in important office naps
✅Maintaining a "paw"sitive workplace culture

While we have a very fun election happening at our office, we know there is a slightly more serious election happening on Tuesday, November 3. If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed during election season, you are not alone. This week, we had the privilege of visiting Bowling Green High School to present NAMI Ending the Silence to 10th–12th graders. Our incredible young adult speakers bravely shared their personal mental health journeys, inspiring hope and breaking down stigma for students across Wood County. 💚

Together, we’re building a community where it’s okay to talk about mental health and ask for help.

Join us for our NAMI Connections Recovery Support Group for LGBTQ+ adults living with mental illness. Our peer-led support group offers an environment for individuals to share their experiences and learn from others. Next group: 10/28 at 6-7:30PM in Bowling Green.

🔥 AfterBurn 2026 was our biggest one yet! 🔥

On October 2, we welcomed nearly 200 community members to the Wood County Fairgrounds for an evening of connection, creativity, and mental health awareness during Mental Illness Awareness Week. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $7,000 to support NAMI Wood County’s free classes, support groups, presentations, and trainings.

🎃 Trunk or Treat was a hit, with incredible booths from local agencies—congrats to the Wood County Educational Service Center for earning this year’s Fan Favorite!
🌶️ Our Chili Cook-off brought the heat, judged by partners from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and NAMI Greater Toledo. Big shoutout to Jessica Hartman & Bree Snow for taking home the Golden Spoon, and Bree Snow for snagging People’s Choice!

The night closed with a meaningful moment of silence and a powerful sign‑singing performance of “This Is Me” by Staci Taper, reminding us why community matters.
