Through shared resources and cross-agency learning, we work in solidarity to create thriving immigrant communities. The Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative is a statewide, multilingual and diverse collaborative of 15 immigrant serving support organizations, working to ensure shared access to resources. We support with dignity and equity immigrant communities that have been historically under-resourced, including those at-risk and/or without status. By joining forces the Collaborative has been able to serve more than 150,000 immigrants in the last 3 years. We do this in solidarity with the families, respecting their human rights, and investing in their long term economic mobility, while seeking to address urgent needs such as cash and food assistance, immigration legal services and access to other services and opportunities. On September 28th, MIC's Detention Legal Director Jacob Miller, along with the rest of the New Bedford rapid response team, including Jill Seeber and Daniel Santiago of MIC Legal Partner Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice, and Susan Church of MIC network ally Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants, met with Governor Maura Healey, who was in New Bedford to meet with families of community members impacted by the recent immigration enforcement actions, community leaders, and advocates.

The day began with a powerful listening session hosted by our Partner Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores (CCT), where members shared their direct experiences (thank you CCT for making the voices of impacted families heard!), then moved to the Community Economic Development Center (CEDC), where all the organizations met. Thank you to CCT and to Jacob Miller, for their leadership in the New Bedford community!
