The Pamlico County High School Rotary Student of the Month for October is Damien Roberson!
Damien Roberson is an outstanding student-athlete who exemplifies hard work, perseverance, leadership, and character. He excels in the classroom and on the athletic field, consistently demonstrating a commitment to excellence and a willingness to lead by example. His teachers and coach recognize not only his intellectual ability and work ethic but also the respect, kindness, and determination he brings to our school community.
Brandon Akins shared:
"Damien is an exceptional young man. It has been my pleasure to get to know him over the last few years that has revealed to me, not only his work ethic but, his fierce intellect. I have seen him face obstacles and adversity with a grit and determination that many others do not have. Damien leads from the front, putting the team first and ensuring that regardless of the adversity we face that he is going to be the kind of student-athlete that will embody what it means to have the 'Heart of a Hurricane'. He has excelled both on the field and in the classroom, and is becoming a young man that reflects our motto; Protect the County. I often find myself leaning on Damien when I need to make schematic changes or to emphasize a specific technique because Damien takes the teaching/coaching, applies it, and models what it is I am looking to get my team to do. The same can be said for Damien in the classroom, he truly embodies what it means to be a student-athlete. I know that whatever the future holds for Damien, he will make Pamlico proud!"

"Damian is the epitome of what a student athlete should be. He is a hard worker in both arenas and leads by example setting the standard for others to follow."
Martha Pinilla shared:
"Damian is a very smart, hardworking, and respectful student. He is always willing to do his best, shows a great attitude toward learning a new language, and participates actively in class."
Cara Shelton-Harper shared:
"Damien Roberson is well-rounded, dependable, attentive, funny, kind, disciplined, respectful, organized, and a confident young man; he is a student that is easy to teach and easy to love. He is an active listener and participant in class, often offering insightful questions and comments in class discussion. He is not afraid to volunteer for public speaking opportunities in class nor does he hesitate when asked to work in groups and help his classmates. He is a strong writer and overall communicator. I feel privileged to be his teacher!"
Damien's teachers and coach describe a young man whose intelligence, perseverance, leadership, and character set him apart. His willingness to embrace challenges, support others, and consistently give his best makes him a wonderful representative of our school and a deserving recipient of Rotary Student recognition.
