We have been successful in training more than 4,000 lawyers who have made their mark in all areas of the legal profession.

As a HBCU institution founded in 1946 with a glorious history tied to the civil rights struggle dating back to the 1950s, we are proud to note that our graduates are still in the forefront of cutting-edge legal battles. Our diverse alumni serve in large and small law firms, public interest law organizations, and are leaders in local, state, and national government. They attribute their success to the legal education they received at the Southern University Law Center.

alumnus Jared Evans (’12) has joined the Legal Defense Fund (LDF) as Deputy Director of Policy.

In this role, he will manage interdisciplinary teams and work closely with LDF’s Director of Policy and President and Director-Counsel to advance the organization’s priorities through legislation, public policy, and strategic advocacy.

students Jaxon Turner, Hanna Epsy, and Keith Gauff recently attended the Mass Torts Made Perfect Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada!

During the conference, the students received guidance and coaching from some of the nation’s most distinguished plaintiffs’ attorneys.

Through panels, seminars, and hands-on training sessions, they gained insight into trial advocacy, effective litigation strategies, and skills needed to become successful trial attorneys.

We love seeing our student attorneys gain valuable experience beyond the classroom!

alumna Meghan Matt ('21) has been named to the Super Lawyers 2027 Rising Star list!

The Super Lawyers selection process selects attorneys on an annual, state-by-state basis using peer nominations and evaluations combined with independent research. No more than 2.5% of attorneys in Louisiana receive this distinction.

Today is the last day to early vote!

’s American Constitution Society, in partnership with ’s Student Bar Association Second Seat, recently hosted a Constitutional Law Writing and Voter Education Drive Session!

Students had the opportunity to strengthen their legal analysis and exam writing skills through a timed practice exam, peer review, and feedback from Dr. Paul Race and other Constitutional Law professors. The session also featured a voter education presentation covering how to register to vote, check voter registration status, and find early voting locations.

We are proud to see our strengthening their legal skills while promoting civic engagement and voter education!
