We would love to thank everyone that attended our 20th annual Haunted Trail event last weekend. What an absolute success it was! There are so many people to thank that are instrumental for this event to run smoothly and safely. From the staff and 100+ teen volunteers that have been planning this event for months, to all the volunteers that helped run the event through the end. Thank you to the City of Basehor, KS for the use of Basehor City Park, and your assistance from prep through the weekend as well at the Basehor Police Department for keeping attendees safe and directing traffic and buses. And thank you again to our event sponsors Friends of the Basehor Library, Envirotech Heating & Cooling, Service Company, First State Bank & Trust, and Cobra Command Crossfit.

Our Reader's Theater program last week was a blast! Participants reenacted two beloved Mo Willems Piggy & Elephant books; "My Friend is Sad" and "Pigs Make Me Sneeze". They created props, and acted out the books for family and friends.

Sometimes the generosity of community businesses gets overlooked so we'd love to recognize these amazing local businesses for supporting our upcoming Haunted Trail event. Without their assistance, programs like this would not be possible. Thank you!!! First State Bank & Trust Ladd Service Company

Happy National Friends of the Library Week and thank you to our volunteers. So what do our Friends group do for BCL? Here are a few examples: provide new technology, support summer reading programs, storytime extras, children’s discovery packs, The Book Page subscription, event tabling at events to provide community awareness of library services, provide volunteer assistance at library programs, raise funds to purchase equipment and materials not available through the regular library budget, sponsor adult, teen, and children’s programs, and conduct used book sales.
