Victory Conversations — Episode 1 💙

As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to thank everyone who helped bring awareness, support, and compassion to children and families in care.

But the need does not end with May.

Children and youth in our community need safety, stability, connection, and people willing to show up.

Whether through resource parenting, volunteering, mentoring, donating, or simply learning more — everyone can play a role.

Find out how you can help.

Today, Victory Family Services is closed in observance of Memorial Day.

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

The Thousand Flags display at River Walk is a powerful reminder of sacrifice, courage, and the freedoms we enjoy because of them.
Wishing our community a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Yesterday we had the opportunity to speak with KGET about the importance of community support for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness and instability.

One of the biggest messages we hope people take away is this:

Many young people are not lacking potential.
They’re lacking support, stability, and hope.

When a community comes together — through mentorship, housing support, encouragement, advocacy, and compassion — lives can change.

Thank you to everyone in Bakersfield who continues to show up for children, youth, and families in meaningful ways. 💙

One thing we’ve seen over and over again is this:

Real change happens when people come together.

From resource parents and mentors to volunteers, local businesses, churches, donors, social workers, and everyday community members — it takes all of us working together to support children, youth, and families.

Bakersfield continues to show compassion, generosity, and heart in ways that truly matter, and we’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for others.

Because no child’s future should depend on whether they have support alone. 💙

Tonight’s Volunteer Orientation starts at 5:30 PM 💙

Every act of support matters.

Whether it’s helping with events, organizing donations, supporting activities, or simply showing up for young people and families in our community — volunteers help make meaningful moments possible.

We’re excited to meet everyone joining us tonight and grateful for every person willing to give their time to help others.

Growing up doesn’t come with a manual.

At THPP, we work with young adults every day who are building independence, confidence, and life skills while figuring out adulthood one step at a time. 💙

So we want to hear from YOU:

What’s one piece of advice you wish someone told you at 18?

There’s something powerful about showing up for a youth who needs support.

Sometimes it’s offering encouragement.
Sometimes it’s helping them feel seen.
Sometimes it’s simply being a safe, steady presence they can count on.

And while the goal is to make a difference in their life, many people find that the experience changes them too.

Helping a youth in need can be one of the most rewarding things you ever do — because even small acts of care can leave a lasting impact.

Every youth deserves to feel supported, valued, and seen.

Because every child deserves victory. 💙
