🌟 The future of the nonprofit sector is something we build together!

OneStar joined hundreds of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders at Independent Sector’s National Summit 2026 in Phoenix this month to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and explore how we can strengthen our sector and amplify our collective impact. OneStar's Millicent Boykin, helped facilitate the Policy Professionals Advocacy Intensive, exploring strategies to navigate a changing policy landscape, strengthen advocacy, and ensure the charitable sector’s voice is heard. From workforce sustainability and financial resilience to trusted leadership and public policy, the conversations reinforced how interconnected these priorities are to the future of our sector.

We’re bringing home fresh perspectives and renewed commitment to elevating the voice of Texas nonprofits, strengthening cross-sector partnerships, and advancing policies that help communities thrive. Thank you to Independent Sector for convening leaders around a shared vision for the future. Together, we can turn our collective voice into meaningful action and build a stronger future for the communities we serve. 🤝💙

Last week, our OneStar team stepped away from the day-to-day for a staff retreat at PopStroke in Austin to think big about our shared vision, explore opportunities across programs, and reflect on the full potential of OneStar. Through strategic discussions, interactive activities, a OneStar-themed Jeopardy game, a scavenger hunt, and networking on the mini golf course, we strengthened relationships and discovered new ways to collaborate. ⛳

The retreat was a valuable reminder that our impact is greater when we connect our expertise and align efforts to better serve Texas communities. We left energized by new ideas, a deeper understanding of each other's work, and the possibilities ahead. When we make time to look beyond our individual roles and see the bigger picture, we discover new opportunities to strengthen our mission and accelerate our impact! 🌟💙

Earlier this month, we welcomed Mark Lloyd, AmeriCorps Chief of Staff, to North Texas to visit AmeriCorps Partners and see firsthand how national service strengthens local communities! At Project Transformation North Texas, we saw AmeriCorps Volunteers supporting K–5 students through after-school programming. At Equal Heart, we explored its Direct-to-Door Mobile Food Pantry and visited the Central Arts service site. Together, these visits highlighted how meeting essential needs, supporting young learners, and building community connections work hand in hand to create stronger, more resilient communities. 💙🌐

Beyond seeing service in action, we discussed opportunities to share AmeriCorps’ collective impact and strengthen the national service ecosystem. Mark even joined us virtually during OneStar’s grantee call to connect with AmeriCorps partners across Texas!

Thank you to Mark and our North Texas partners for your leadership and commitment to working together. By connecting programs, people, and purpose, we can amplify the impact of national service across Texas! 💪📢

Connection is where meaningful impact begins. 🔗🤝🌱

At last week's 2026 Texas Volunteer Management Conference, themed "Bridges Beyond Boundaries," we were reminded of the power of intentional connection: "Across the presentations and workshops, a common thread emerged: connection across generations, connection through meaningful 60-second interactions, and connection through volunteerism. Each reminded me that lasting impact often begins with simple, intentional moments of engagement." - Gabriela, Volunteer Texas Senior Program Officer

We left feeling energized by the passionate volunteer engagement leaders across Texas who are working to connect more people with causes that matter and strengthen communities across Texas. Thank you to the TVMC planning committee and VolunteerNow for creating this opportunity to learn, share ideas, and build relationships that move our collective work forward. 💙

Stay tuned next week as we share more opportunities to deepen your volunteer engagement fundamentals! 👀
