Today feels a little nostalgic for me.
Growing up in Austin, Cinco de Mayo wasn’t just something you heard about....it was something you experienced.
I still remember learning these dances at Ridgetop Elementary with one of my best friends at the time. The music, the movement, the dresses....it all stayed with me.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, a moment of resilience and pride. And over time, especially here in Texas, it has become a celebration of culture, heritage, and community.
What always stood out to me was the beauty of it!! The Jalisco dresses, the tradition, the energy....it’s something you don’t forget.
I feel really grateful that this was part of how I grew up.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
Happy Cinco de Mayo 🤍
