Edward's University off-campus location that includes Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, established in 1976, with almost three miles of hiking trails and 227 acres of protected urban wilderness. Please stay on the trail and follow the "Leave No Trace Seven Principles" during your visit. *Pets, bikes, smoking/fire, weapons, picnics, and collecting are prohibited.* Everything is protected on the preserve.

We’re continuing our “Things You Should Know” series by sharing an most important distinction: Wild Basin is a preserve, not a park. 🌟🌲🌿

While a park is primarily designed for recreation and leisure, a preserve like Wild Basin is dedicated to protecting vital natural resources and ecosystems. We protect native Texas Hill Country habitats that support wildlife and plant species. 🦎✨

Guided school tours are available for booking Tuesday–Friday mornings from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM!
We transform a standard field trip into an adventure with a purposeful exploration. Students can discover our 227-acre wilderness and visit our hands-on science gallery. They can touch, smell, and safely interact with the environment around them— from geology to spotting native wildlife! 💡🗺️🪲

🚌 Plus: Bus reimbursement funding is available to help offset transportation costs for Title I schools!
