Wanted to give everyone a heads-up: heat indexes are expected to climb into the 105–108° range through next Thursday (Aug 7–13). Sharing the forecast below so you can plan accordingly:

Fri 8/7: High 98° / Feels like 107°
Sat 8/8: High 99° / Feels like 105°
Sun 8/9: High 99° / Feels like 105°
Mon 8/10: High 99° / Feels like 105°
Tue 8/11: High 101° / Feels like 106°
Wed 8/12: High 102° / Feels like 108°
Thu 8/13: High 101° / Feels like 107°

A few reminders as we get through this stretch:
• Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or AC
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat
• Never leave kids or pets in a parked car
• Check in on elderly neighbors, especially those living alone
• Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: July 4th Parade Road Closures Tomorrow 🚧
WLHPD will be assisting with the annual July 4th Parade tomorrow morning! Please plan ahead if you'll be traveling in the area.
🕗 Road closures begin approx. 8:30 AM
🛣️ Closed streets: Westlake Drive, Rocky River Road, and Reveille Road
🅿️ Vehicles will be lining up along the shoulder of Reveille Rd before the parade, please use designated parking areas shown on the map and avoid blocking travel lanes.
Give yourself extra time if you need to get around the area, and thank you for your patience as we keep our community safe during the celebration!
Join us at 101 Westlake Drive (South State Bank) at 8:30 AM for the parade and festivities that follow.

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT: Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect Until Midnight ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area through 12:00 a.m. tonight.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the IH-35 corridor between approximately 8:30 p.m. and midnight, bringing the potential for:

• Damaging straight-line winds up to 75 mph
• Large hail
• Heavy rainfall
• Isolated tornado potential

Residents are encouraged to prepare now by securing outdoor items such as trash cans, patio furniture, umbrellas, and grills.

Please use caution if traveling tonight and remain weather aware over the next several hours.
