Do you know what to do with yard signs after the election? Hint: they don’t go in your blue recycling cart! 🙅 Instead, drop them off outside our Recycle and Reuse Center at 2514 Business Center Drive. We will have a temporary drop-off station open Nov. 4-18. (No appointment needed to drop off signs at this station.)

You can also schedule an appointment year-round to drop off yard signs at our center.

Change of location due to rain! Austin Resource Recovery will be at this event to share information on programs and services, along with giveaway items (while supplies last).

Due to expected rain through tomorrow we are moving the National Night Out Kick Off Event to an indoor location. You can still come and pick up swag, materials, and resources for your individual HOA neighborhood and block parties.

Join Austin in celebrating Food Waste Prevention Week! You can take simple steps to reduce food waste at home and work.

For example, did you know you can put food scraps, including meat, dairy and seafood, in your green cart? You can also compost food-soiled paper like greasy pizza boxes and paper towels.

Place items in your green cart and set it on the curb by 5:30 a.m. on your regular collection day.

The Austin community throws away more than a million pounds of food every day. There are many simple steps you can take at home to reduce food waste.

Starting October 1, it will cost $9.80 per cubic yard to drop off yard trimmings and brush at Austin Water ’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant. You can drop off up to six cubic yards each day. Everything dropped off is composted and turned into Dillo Dirt — a great way to give your large yard waste a second life! Learn more at www.austintexas.gov/brushdropoff.

Don’t forget, our residential customers can use on-demand brush collection to schedule up to 3 pickups every year at no additional cost.
