We welcome comments from students, parents, and members of the community. Please note, however, that this is a moder
ated limited discussion site and not a public forum for the discussion of any and all subjects. SCS recognizes that disagreements may occur, and members of the school community remain free to express their views. Rather, this expectation relates to the manner in which people communicate and interact with each other. Disrespectful, rude, abusive or intolerant behavior or language erodes education, is unacceptable, and such behavior will be addressed when it occurs. Stanly County School District also reserves the right to delete comments that: contain spam, advertising, solicitations or include links to other sites; are clearly off topic or disruptive; use vulgar language and profanity: are obscene or sexually explicit; this includes masked words (***), acronyms, and abbreviations; are deceptive messages; promote particular services, products, or political organizations or campaigns; infringe on copyrights or trademarks; advocate illegal activity; violate any policies of Stanly County School District. All comments are subject to review by Stanly County Schools’ moderators. While comments will not be edited or screened for viewpoint, to further explain, SCS reserves the right to remove any comment that includes any of the following:
- Points unrelated to the purpose and subject of the main post. All comments to any particular post should relate directly to that post. Commenters who wish to offer input on school system matters not addressed on our page are encouraged to contact the school or central office administration.
- Complaints, concerns, or confidential information about individual students or employees. To protect the privacy and due process rights of our students and employees, SCS handles complaints and concerns about specific persons confidentially per Board of Education Policy. Questions or concerns about specific students should generally be referred in the first instance to the student’s teacher or a school administrator. Questions or concerns about specific employees should generally be referred in the first instance to the school principal or other supervisor. Other policies, like the Discrimination, Harassment, and Bullying Complaint Policy and the Student and Parent Grievance Policy, may apply in specific circumstances.
- Advertising or promotional materials.
- Copyrighted material posted without the expressed consent of the copyright holder.
- Words that constitute a criminal act or that solicit others to commit a criminal act.
- Fraud or defamation.
- Personally abusive language that is inherently likely to provoke a violent response.
- Words that present a grave and imminent threat to any person’s health or safety.
- Threats of violence.
- Obscenity or illegal material
- Comments that do not reflect reasonable standards of civility and decorum: commenters are expected to refrain
entirely from profanity, personal insults, and personal attacks against any person. Process for Removal and Blocking of a Follower:
- Any comment that does not adhere to the guidelines will be removed.
- Notification will be sent to the person via FaceBook direct message of the nature of the offensive or disruptive comment with references to the stated guidelines.
- If the person continues to ignore the guidelines and notifications, their account will be blocked from commenting on SCS social media accounts
