King Ogunremi Foundation (KOF) AND NDLEA EMPOWER PRIME IQRAH COLLEGE STUDENTS TO SAY NO TO DRUG ABUSE
Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign (DAAC) combines prevention education, student dialogue, peer-pressure awareness and early intervention

The King Ogunremi Foundation (KOF), in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) ,has successfully concluded a Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign (DAAC) and Youth Intervention programme at Prime Iqrah College, Isashi, Lagos State, reinforcing the message that young people must protect their education, health and future by staying away from illicit drugs.
Held on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the school-based intervention was delivered under the theme:
“The Effects of Drug Abuse and How to Say No to Drugs.”
The programme formed part of KOF's Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign (DAAC™) and brought students into direct conversation with drug-prevention advocates and NDLEA personnel about substance misuse, peer pressure, positive decision-making and the importance of seeking help when confronted with drug-related challenges.
The programme has also received national media coverage from Independent Newspaper Nigeria – KOF, NDLEA Take Fight Against Drug Abuse to Iqrah College, which reported that students actively participated in the programme by asking questions and discussing issues surrounding drug use. STUDENTS AT THE CENTRE OF PREVENTION
Rather than treating students simply as an audience, the programme encouraged them to participate, ask questions and openly discuss some of the pressures young people may encounter.
Representing KOF, Mrs Jacob Chidinma Linda, a senior member of the foundation, encouraged students to resist peer pressure, choose their friendships carefully and protect the dreams they are working towards through education.
She emphasised that young people should have the confidence to reject drugs rather than allowing pressure from friends or their social environment to influence decisions that could negatively affect their future. Independent Newspaper Nigeria
KOF Chief of Staff Oluwabunmi Mogaji also addressed the students on the consequences of substance misuse and encouraged them to stay away from illicit substances and concentrate on building productive futures. Independent Newspaper Nigeria
NDLEA LEADS INTERACTIVE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
A significant component of the programme was an interactive question-and-answer session led by Commander Titilayo Ogunnyi of the NDLEA as identified in the Independent report.
Students were given an opportunity to raise questions and express concerns about drug use, while the NDLEA representative encouraged them to choose their friends wisely and avoid relationships and environments that could expose them to harmful substances. Independent Newspaper Nigeria
The approach reflects NDLEA's wider Drug Demand Reduction strategy, which includes school and community sensitisation, youth-focused prevention education and interactive programmes designed to increase awareness of drug use and its consequences. NDLEA
A STUDENT-INSPIRED INITIATIVE
One of the particularly significant aspects of the Prime Iqrah College intervention was the role played by young people themselves.
According to the published account, the initiative was inspired by Jauhanarh Oyinkansola, Senior Prefect of Prime Iqrah College, whose concern about the impact of illicit drug use on young people helped initiate the programme.
Her mother, Mrs Rehamat Oluwakemi Mogaji, Senior Public Relations Officer at the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Lagos State University, explained that her daughter's concern motivated her to approach the school, KOF and NDLEA to help bring the drug-prevention message directly to students. Oyinkansola herself told the newspaper that she wanted young people to understand the dangers associated with drug abuse and concentrate instead on becoming successful individuals who would make their families, schools and society proud. Independent Newspaper Nigeria
KOF considers this youth-led dimension particularly important because effective prevention should not only speak to young people, but should increasingly create opportunities to work with young people.
FROM AWARENESS TO EARLY INTERVENTION
Reflecting on the programme, King Ogunremi, founder and Executive Director of the King Ogunremi Foundation and creator of DAAC™, said:
“Prime Iqrah College demonstrated why we must take drug prevention directly to young people before harmful choices become established behaviours. Awareness is important, but awareness must lead to dialogue, confidence, positive relationships, appropriate support and opportunities.”
He added:
“The students did not simply sit and listen. They asked questions and participated. That is the direction we want DAAC to continue developing—young people should have a voice in prevention. Our message remains simple: your future is worth protecting.”
The Prime Iqrah College intervention also provides a practical example of the developing DAAC Community Drug Abuse Prevention & Youth Intervention Framework, which KOF is structuring around a seven-component pathway:
ENGAGE → EDUCATE → DIALOGUE → MENTOR → REFER → EMPOWER → FOLLOW-UP
The framework seeks to move DAAC beyond one-off awareness campaigns towards a broader community-based prevention and early-intervention approach connecting young people with credible information, supportive relationships, appropriate professional services and positive developmental opportunities.

The King Ogunremi Foundation commends the Proprietor, Principal, management, teachers and students of Prime Iqrah College for recognising that education involves not only academic achievement but also preparing young people to make informed decisions about their lives.
