Osun 2026: Group Deploys Technology To Monitor Election, Sends 238 Observers

A non-governmental organization, Civilintel, may have deployed technology to monitor elections. Civilintel said Osun governorship election provides an opportunity to demonstrate how technology and citizen participation can work together to promote peaceful, credible, and transparent elections.
The NGO, accordingly, recruited 238 Election observers to monitor the Osun State governorship election on August 15th.
Civilintel decried elections often facing challenges of misinformation, low civic participation, limited access to reliable information, and inadequate channels for eyewitness accounts.
The group, therefore, disclosed the deployment of 238 trained volunteer observers across Osun State, who will submit election observations electronically through the dedicated observer platform.

Adeleke Campaign Organization Threatens N10bn Defamation Suit Against Senator Fadahunsi

The Campaign Organization of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has threatened to ₦10 billion defamation suit against Senator Francis Fadahunsi.
A statement from the Governor’s Media team indicated that the legal action follows alleged defamatory comments by the senator. The Campaign Organization protested that the statements by the senator were false, malicious, and capable of bringing the governor’s name and administration into disrepute.
They demanded public retraction and apology, warning that failure to comply would lead to legal proceedings. The Organization maintained that the suit is to protect the integrity of the Governor’s Office and putting an end to “reckless political attacks.”

Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2027 general elections, came in physical contact with a renown broadcaster and analyst, Rufai Oseni, at the Arise News studios in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Military Comb Farmlands, Overpower Armed Herdsmen In Gunbattle, Kill 1 In Benue

The military, in swift response to call distress call, combed the farmlands, overpowered armed herdsmen in a gunbattle on their way to invade a community in Benue State, and killed one herdsman.
The Acting Media Information Officer, HQ JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, in a statement highlighted that troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Police Force, foiled an attack by suspected armed herders at Azege Village, Tombo Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The Media Information Officer narrated that troops, on 10 August 2026, received a distress call reporting an attack on Azege Community. In response, troops swiftly mobilized to the area to confront the threat and restore security. On arrival, the troops made contact with the armed criminals and engaged them in a gunfight. As a result, the assailants were overwhelmed by the troops' superior firepower and fled in disarray.
He added that troops immediately pursued the fleeing attackers and subsequently discovered one armed herder neutralized during the encounter. Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with 16 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one Nokia mobile phone. The recovered items have been secured, while the remains of the neutralized assailant was evacuated by the Police.
Zubairu stated that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend other members of the group who fled the scene.

A Court has sentenced Courtney Clenney, a 30-year-old former OnlyFans model, to 6 years imprisonment plus 5 years probation for manslaughter of a Nigerian husband.
