Whitby Museum is run by the Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society.

The Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society was established in 1823 and has around 800 members. It is one of the very few remaining Literary & Philosophical Societies that still runs an independent Museum, the older parts of which are often regarded as a 'Museum within a Museum' and have the atmosphere of an Edwardian Museum. The extension, opened in 2005, offers a costume gallery, temporary exhibition room and a lecture (Normanby) room.

Had a fabulous morning making plasticine witch portraits. They are amazing & pretty scary! They can be viewed in our ‘Curiouser & ,Curiouser’ exhibition alongside Old Kattie the Ruswarp Witch.

Flock Kitchen & Coffee at Whitby Museum will be CLOSED on SUNDAYS (with the exception of November 1st and 22nd). Open Tuesday - Saturday until November 29th when Whitby Museum will close for the Winter.
