Today we held a special lunch event to say a big THANK YOU to our wonderful volunteers.

We’re so grateful to each and every one of them, including our befrienders, club helpers, drivers, trustees, fundraisers, digital champions, admin volunteers, helpers at our Community Advice Hubs, and many more.

It was lovely to spend time with our volunteers, chatting, presenting long-service awards, and showing our appreciation.

Thank you also to the Mayor of Solihull for joining us, and making a very exciting announcement which we will share soon!

We’re proud to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week 2026 – marking 42 years of saying thank you to all volunteers across the UK for everything they do for society.

We are lucky to have over 300 amazing volunteers, who give so much time and dedication to supporting Solihull residents who need us. Whether it's providing friendship, teaching a skill, supporting our fundraising activities, or helping the charity operate smoothly, the value they add to our charity and the difference they make is incredible.

Thank you to each and every one of you!

Elder abuse is a growing but often hidden issue.

It can be physical, emotional, financial, or caused by neglect, and it affects people in every community – including here in Solihull.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is about shining a light on this issue and showing that abuse of older people is never acceptable.

Please support our campaign by raising funds and awareness so we can continue to be here for older people who are vulnerable to abuse.

Either make a donation yourself or organise a purple-themed fundraiser to show your support of the campaign.

Why not do one kind thing along with your donation and share with others to encourage them to do the same?

For full details, purple fundraising ideas, and a free fundraising pack, visit www.ageuk.org.uk/solihull/weaad
