Arya Hashemi is taking on this year’s Great North Run in memory of his late wife Kelly, raising money for Gateshead Health Charity to support St Bede’s Palliative Care Unit 🏃❤️

Kelly Hashemi, wife of Arya and mother to Tabitha, sadly passed away at St Bede’s after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Following the care Kelly and her family received, Arya decided he wanted to give something back.

He has already raised more than £5,500 for Gateshead Health Charity, with fundraising continuing ahead of the half marathon on 13 September 👊

A huge thank you to George Herbert, who came to our Chemo Day Unit on Wednesday to hand over a cheque for over £2,000 💙

George raised the money at a fundraising day at Hexham Golf Club on behalf of his wife Christina, who has successfully completed her chemotherapy treatment.

We're so grateful for your generosity and support, George - it means the world to our patients and staff 💙
