What a star! ⭐

This morning we welcomed Ryder Hodgson to the QE to present a cheque for £375 that he raised for Gateshead Health Charity.

Ryder took on the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run in September and raised every penny in support of our Charity ❤️

He spent time with Wendy Oliver, Senior Nursery Nurse in Paediatrics, who showed him around the department so he could see first-hand where some of our fundraising goes.

Ryder had a fantastic time exploring the variety of equipment that previous donations have helped fund – including the VR headset, the 3D TV, a touch table games centre, and so much more! 🤩

Chief Executive Dr Sean Fenwick and Service Line Manager, Alexander Diggles were also there to thank Ryder for his ongoing support.

And the best news? Ryder has already signed up for the 2027 AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run, where he’ll be running for Paediatrics and Cancer Services!

⚽ 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵! ⚽

Last weekend, the boots were laced, the banter was flying, and the Lads claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Dads! 🏆

Even better than the final score?

We raised just under £800 for our St Bede’s Palliative Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 🙏

This will help patients and their families during one of the most difficult times of their lives – helping provide that extra comfort, support and dignity that means so much.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, spectated, donated or simply cheered from the sidelines. You helped turn a great game into something truly meaningful ❤️
