For over 30 years, we have been helping people achieve a better quality of life through our patient transport and person-centred domiciliary care. Our professional quality volunteer transport, domiciliary home care, training and support services are managed from our base in Ferryhill. We offer premium care and support to people of all ages in the cities, towns and villages in the County Durham area.

Our volunteer drivers are going the extra mile… and then some!🌙

Thanks to the incredible hard work and dedication of our volunteer drivers, we’ve covered an amazing 159,803 miles so far this year. To put that into perspective, that’s more than halfway to the Moon!

Every mile makes a difference, helping us support our community and get people where they need to be!

💜 Our new SMART Recovery group is up and running in Ferryhill!

Today, we welcomed people to our very first SMART Recovery session, and we’re excited to be offering this support to our local community!

Life can throw all sorts of challenges our way, and sometimes we need a little help making positive changes. Whether you’d like to change your relationship with gambling, shopping, ni****ne, alcohol or other addictive behaviours, our friendly SMART Team is here to support you.

Our sessions are a relaxed, welcoming space where you can learn practical tips, share experiences if you wish, and take things at your own pace.

Sessions are completely FREE, and there’s no need to book! You can come along to as many or as few sessions as you like.

At Supportive, we love hearing how our care helps people to live independently.💜

We recently received a lovely thank-you note from someone we supported following a hip replacement:

“I really appreciate all that the carers have done for me. I know I could not have managed on my own without your help as my family all live away. I now feel much better and able to look after myself.”

Words like these remind us of the difference compassionate care can make. Thank you to our wonderful carers for the kindness and dedication they bring to every visit.

A little nibble, a good natter and time together!☕💜

Our new Nibble & Natter group for staff and volunteers got underway this week, giving our team a chance to take a breather and enjoy a friendly catch-up.

Hosted by the lovely Debbie, our first get-together offered a relaxed, welcoming space to spend time with colleagues and fellow volunteers, share stories and get to know one another a little better.

With busy working days and different roles across Supportive, we don’t always get the opportunity to sit down together. This new group gives our team the time to connect, enjoy some company and have a conversation beyond the day-to-day tasks.

At Supportive, caring for people includes caring for the wellbeing of our own team. Our staff and volunteers give so much to others, and we want them to feel valued, supported and part of a community too. 💜

Meet the Team — Say hello to Jen! 💜

Jen first joined Supportive as a carer in 2021, before becoming a responder and then moving into the office as a coordinator in 2022. Having worked in several roles, she understands both the care we provide and the organisation that goes on behind the scenes.

After some time away, she returned in September 2025. Now a Care Manager in our Homecare office, Jen makes sure that everything runs smoothly.
