We provide free and confidential support to survivors aged 12 years and over residing in the Nipissing District.

On June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, news of freedom finally reached enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas.

But Juneteenth isn’t just a U.S. history - it’s global history. The legacy of slavery, colonialism, and anti-Black racism continues to shape systems of violence and inequality around the world.

Today is a day of remembrance, resistance, and action.
We honour Black history, uplift Black voices, and recommit to the ongoing fight for justice, reparations, and liberation that is lived, not just promised.

NEW! 💰 Financial Wellness Consultations with BDO 💰

We’re happy to share that our friends at BDO will be in-office on Friday, June 12th offering free 45-minute individual financial wellness consultations. These one-on-one sessions provide a private, judgement-free space to talk budgeting, credit, debt, financial planning, and any other money-related questions.

Please note that availability is limited and must be pre-booked with our office. If interest exceeds availability, individuals will be given priority access to the next available date. As these appointments are free of charge, we kindly ask for 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend so we can offer your spot to someone else who may be waiting.

Only 8 days until the 7th annual ! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

On June 7, Chelsea will take on a sprint-distance triathlon - a 1,000m swim, 20km ride, and 5km run - all in support of Amelia Rising and the work we do with survivors in our community.

For seven years, this event has been about more than the finish line - it’s about raising awareness, showing up for survivors, and creating lasting impact. 💜

Our hearts are so full after another incredible Poetry Slam.

To every performer who shared their voice, their truth, their vulnerability, and their power — thank you. Your words moved us, challenged us, connected us, and reminded us why spaces like this matter.

To everyone who attended, listened, supported, volunteered, contributed to our Community Poem, and helped hold this space with care - thank you for showing up in community. The reflections shared on those pages are such a beautiful reminder that healing, growth, and resilience are never carried alone.

This year’s theme, Still We Speak, came alive in every poem, every story, every moment of courage shared on that stage. In a world that so often demands silence, we witnessed something powerful: voices rising together.

If you or someone you’re supporting has experienced sexual or gender-based violence, we’re here to help. Our helpline is staffed by highly trained individuals in partnership with a sister centre in Durham. Support is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day.

Our Support for Supporters program offers brief, supportive intervention sessions and resources for those in a supportive role – whether you're a friend, partner, family member, or someone navigating a disclosure.
