You must be a ratepayer to the Municipality of Chester and reside in District 1 (Blandford) to vote or be nominated as a Commissioner.

This is the time for ratepayers to speak with the Commissioners, ask questions, and discuss district matters.

We encourage all ratepayers in the Blandford Area Fire District to attend the annual Ratepayers’ Meeting. Your participation directly supports the volunteers who respond day and night to keep our district protected.

Our district’s fire area rate is $0.13 per $100 of assessed property value.

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘹 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘰?
Your contributions support the essential operations of the Blandford & Area Fire Rescue including:
- Training and certification
- Safety gear and protective equipment
- Fire trucks and apparatus maintenance
- Insurance and operational costs
- Equipment upgrades and long‑term planning
These funds ensure our volunteers have the tools and resources they need to respond safely and effectively.

The Fire Commission is responsible for the administration of the fire district, including budgeting, financial oversight, equipment planning, and ensuring the department has what it needs to operate safely and responsibly.

𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴
Each year, two commissioner positions are up for election. If you’re interested in supporting your local volunteer fire department in a meaningful way, consider putting your name forward to serve as a commissioner. Attend the meeting, be nominated, then elected, 3 year term.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Your support matters.

The Blandford & Area Fire Rescue needs your support to ensure your tax dollars are being used to better the operation of the volunteer service.

A special thank you to Deep Cove Aqua for providing such a great location for our members to take part in hands-on training — we truly appreciate your support!

🚒 Notice to residents: Over the next several weeks, you may see us training at 5162 Hwy 329 on Tuesday evenings and possible weekends. We’ll be running various simulations during this time.

EHS blue tape is used to mark accident scenes where first responders have already been present. When the public sees this blue tape, it indicates that emergency services have addressed the incident.

The purpose of the blue tape is to inform the public that the situation has been managed and does not require additional 911 calls. This system helps reduce unnecessary calls, allowing emergency services to focus on new and ongoing emergencies.
