Mansfield SES Juniors undertook a training exercise rescuing a “person” who had rolled their ankles and couldn’t weight bear. The juniors had to find the location, plan a route, radio in, locate the person then set up the mule and transport the casualty to the “ambulance”. They showed lots of great skills.

This week paramedics from Mansfield Ambulance Victoria joined Mansfield SES for some interagency training. SES members became more familiar with the contents and functionality of the ambulances, including how to load patients.
SES really values working together with our fellow emergency service workers and refining our skills.

Rain is on the way. Rain will develop across northern Victoria on Monday evening, extending across much of the state during Tuesday morning before easing from the west during Tuesday evening.
The North East is expected to receive the highest rainfall totals:
Widespread 25–50 mm
Isolated falls of 45–65 mm
Localised totals of 70–90 mm are possible.
Heavy rainfall is most likely about the northeast ranges during the early hours of Tuesday, where 50–60 mm in six hours could result in flash flooding.

We're seeing flooding impacts across the state this morning on the back of heavy rainfall, including response for flood rescues.

Floodwater is dangerous. It can take as little as 15cm of flowing water to float a car. Never, ever enter floodwater.

If you are driving and encounter floodwater, turn around and find an alternative travel route. Don’t risk it.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Damaging Winds has been issued with fast moving storms heading east across the Mallee and Wimmera, affecting areas including Mildura, Ouyen, Murrayville, Rainbow, Walpeup and Nhil. Expect damaging winds and heavy rain with possible flash flooding.

With school holidays underway, take extra care around rivers, creeks and lakes as water levels can rise quickly. If camping, avoid trees and low lying areas near waterways.

If conditions become dangerous, stay indoors. If driving, pull over safely away from trees, drains and floodwater. If you need SES help, please call 132 500.
