AVOID SMOKE (HAZARD REDUCTION BURN) - South Stradbroke Island, Russell Island, Macleay Island - fire as at 12:13pm Thursday, 4 June 2026

Warning area: South Stradbroke Island, Russell Island, Macleay Island and surrounding areas
Smoke is currently affecting South Stradbroke Island, Russell Island, Macleay Island and surrounding areas. This is from a hazard reduction burn in the Naree Budjong Djara National Park, North Stradbroke Island. This fire is under control.
What you should do:
- Stay inside and close windows and doors.
- Keep respiratory medication close by.
- Avoid driving through smoke if you can.
- Watch out for firefighters working in the area.
- Do not fly drones around the fire. Drones affect air operations.
Impacts:
- Smoke can make it hard for some people to breathe.
- Smoke can make it hard to see when you are driving.
- No properties are at risk.
