Over 500 locals submitted objections to the clearing of koala habitat at Ormiston College. They were ignored.

Last week, the College began clearing 650 trees that are home to hundreds of koalas.

Here’s what happened:
❌ 0.81ha of mapped core koala habitat is being destroyed inside a Koala Priority Area
❌ Offset plantings don’t meet the required 3:1 ratio under Queensland’s Environmental Offsets Policy
❌ The federal environment department warned the project needed referral under the EPBC Act, but it proceeded anyway

Fewer than 80,000 koalas remain in the wild. Mature trees take decades to replace, and no offset planting can undo what’s already been lost.

Check the comments to sign the community petition calling on Ormiston College to stop the clearing and to find out about Saturday's peaceful protest.

Labor, the Liberals, and One Nation are bought by the 1%. We’re not.

Together, we can build a movement that taxes the 1% and makes politics work for YOU, not them 💚

Yesterday Elizabeth Watson-Brown - Greens MP for Ryan moved an amendment calling for a 25% tax on gas exports – Labor MPs voted to defeat it – and One Nation and the LNP didn’t bother to show up!

Labor MPs who voted against a gas tax need to answer to the Australian people, who overwhelmingly support a tax on gas exports, about why they have once again put the gas corporations first.

You can add your name to our call for a gas tax in the comments. And if you agree with what we're fighting for - join the Greens and let's get this done together 💪

Today is Mabo Day - an annual commemoration of Eddie Koiki Mabo, the Mer Island Elder whose High Court land rights case successfully overturned the legal principle of Terra Nullius: "nobody's land".

The Mabo case changed the way First Nations people and their cultural connection to land are acknowledged under Australian law.

Sadly, Eddie Mabo died five months before the landmark determination was handed down by the High Court in 1992.

It is the courageous and persistent advocacy of people such as Eddie Mabo that have advanced First Nations rights in Australia.

His legacy continues to inspire us today.

Thanks to a bad deal signed by the Queensland Government, a private offshore corporation is holding Brisbane’s airport train to ransom. This is a short history of how we got here, and where to next.

We're calling on the Government to buy back the AirTrain and make it 50c 🚊✈️

Sign the petition in the comments to bring the AirTrain back into public hands!

No amount of tinkering around the edges will fix the LNP’s e-mobility bill - it’s a dud.

If we want to improve safety for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians, we need e-mobility laws that make sense. Head to the comments to write to the Transport Minister now and tell him to drop this bill, it only takes 2 minutes.

At Barrambin/Victoria Park, campments of First Nations communities are being brutally evicted and having their possessions taken by the Brisbane City Council with the support of over 50 police officers. The council are evicting them ahead of fences going up Monday to build an Olympic stadium - against the wishes of the local community.

This is absolutely disgraceful, and a clear attempt to silence dissent.

This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
