UQ Greens

UQ Greens We are a student-run club for supporters of the Queensland Greens. The UQ Greens stand for progressive politics and social and environmental justice.

We promote student political engagement through events like social meetups, protests, on-campus stalls and political forums. We differentiate ourselves from other activist and environmental groups on campus by connecting students directly with Greens campaigns in inner Brisbane. Many of our members have doorknocked or flyered their local area for the Greens in the most recent election, so our social events are the perfect opportunity to meet passionate, like-minded people and to find out what volunteering for the Greens is really like. We had so much fun roadsiding yesterday! Between the countless honks, waves, and thumbs up for taxing gas- its clear that the government should be listening to the people, not the gas lobby ✊️

While Australians get smashed by rising costs and cuts to services, the Albanese government has made it clear that their priority is fossil fuel company profit hoarding, not people.

Currently, over half of Australias gas is exported without paying a cent in royalities 🚫

But, if we taxed gas exports we could make over $17 billion, which could be invested into housing and funding essential services.

Let's break the grip the gas lobby has on our politics 💪

UQ GREENS BANNER PAINTING 🌿🎨

Multinational corporations are ripping us off! Over half of Australia's gas is exported without paying a CENT in royalties. These companies are racking in huge profits while everyday working Australians are struggling to get by.

With a tax on gas exports, we could make over $17 billion a year to to fund education, hospitals, and housing.

👉Thats why the Greens are fighting for a 25% tax on gas.

AND its why today, the UQ Greens got together to paint a banner calling for a tax of gas exports now.

We're going to be flying this banner on Saturday and we want your help.✊️

Did someone say Valley after 👀

So.... We're hosting a cool and hip end of semester pub trip on Thursday the 21st of May at Gilhooley's in the CBD. All are welcome to pop in and grab a few drinks (or not (I'm not your dad 🤷)). It's just before exam time so you can have a guilt free but of fun before study ramps up, assuming that your actually going to study.
Don't study at UQ but still want to go? I guess you can come too 🙄 (please come).
Anyways I have a 3,000 word essay due tomorrow so imma go do that.
