🚒 MEET YOUR BOWEN DELTA RURAL FIRE BRIGADE OFFICERS 🚒

Ever wondered who’s behind the uniforms when our trucks roll out into the community?

Well, these are the people who will be calling the shots, making the decisions and generally trying to keep everyone out of trouble when we get called to a job. 😂🔥

Between them, our officers have a combined 55 YEARS of experience on the fire ground. That’s 55 years of fires, cyclones, training, callouts, questionable decisions and probably a few stories that are best left untold! 🍻😂

👨‍🚒 1st Officer – Brent Edgerton

Our longest-standing current member, Brent has been around long enough to have seen just about everything the fire ground can throw at you.

When things get serious, Brent brings the experience, leadership and calm head needed to get the job done — although we’re sure he’ll tell you he’s been doing it right all along! 😂

👨‍🚒 2nd Officer – Col Edgerton

Col has plenty of fire ground experience and is another key part of our leadership team.

Always happy to put his hand up and help when the call comes in… unless he’s in retirement mode and in his caravan 😂

👨‍🚒 3rd Officer – Jaiden Abbott

Jaiden brings plenty of experience, enthusiasm and commitment to the brigade.

He’s also the bloke who will do anything, anytime, for the brigade — sometimes before anyone has even asked him! 😂

If there’s a job that needs doing, chances are Jaiden is already halfway through it.

👨‍🚒 4th Officer & Chairman – Mitch Pohlmann

Mitch helps lead the brigade operationally while also keeping things moving behind the scenes as Chairman.

Whether it’s organising the brigade, dealing with paperwork, organising trucks, chasing people up or trying to convince everyone that his latest idea is a good one… Mitch is usually somewhere in the middle of it! 😂

We’re proud to have this crew leading Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade, backed by a bloody good group of volunteers who continue to put their hands up for our community.

🔥 Another busy day for our crew! 🚒

It started off with a small hazard reduction burn, followed by a couple of inspections for future hazard reduction burns.

The boys then headed over to visit our good friends at the Merinda Village Hotel for lunch. What started as a nice sit-down lunch quickly turned into takeaway as we were requested to attend a fire threatening structures in Collinsville.

Lunch packed, we jumped in the trucks and hit the road as quickly as we could. All of our trucks headed to Collinsville to lend a hand and support the local crews.

There was a massive effort from everyone involved — all responding crews, property owners, Collinsville Mine equipment operators and anyone else who was able to lend a hand. 👏

Collinsville, your community spirit was absolutely amazing! The way everyone came together to protect properties and support each other was a credit to your community.

A massive shout-out to Chris “Browie” on your first call-out! Welcome to the action, mate!

A huge shoutout and thankyou to Ryan from Bowen Sign Art & Graphic Design for making our ute finally look like a Rural Fire Service ute! It has come up a treat and we are very happy with the outcome!

The boys have certainly been kept busy over the past week with a few call-outs! 🚒🔥

We’ve travelled as far west as Collinsville and as far south as Longford Creek — both outside our normal response area, but we’re always happy to lend a hand and support our neighbouring brigades when needed. 🤝

It’s been fantastic to see our member numbers at call-outs continuing to grow, with more than 10 members attending calls over the past two days! 👏

This is exactly what we love to see — the workload being shared across the brigade and not relying on the same few members every time. It makes a huge difference to our crew and our ability to respond when our community and neighbouring brigades need us.

And remember… we’ve still got room for more! 😜🚒

Three Generations, One Call 🚒❤️

Some call-outs are a little more special than others, and this one certainly was for the Edgerton family.

For the first time, three generations of Edgertons were together as part of the Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade — and even more special, they all attended a job together.

For young Denver Edgerton, it was his first ever call-out. What better way to experience your first job than alongside your dad and grandfather.

Having three generations of the same family volunteer within our brigade is something we are incredibly proud of. It’s a great example of how volunteering can become part of a family’s story and be passed down from one generation to the next.

Congratulations Denver on your first call-out, and a massive thank you to the entire Edgerton family for their continued commitment to the Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade and our community.

🚨 A LITTLE UPDATE ON OUR BUGGY SITUATION 🚨

Whilst we are still awaiting the Rural Fire Service and insurance processes to be sorted out regarding what happens with our buggy moving forward, it’s great to see some positive news!

We’d like to give a big shout-out to our friends at Queensland Police Service for their hard work, with two people now arrested in relation to the theft of our ATV. 👮‍♂️👏

It’s fantastic to see the work of QPS paying off, and we now hope the justice system backs up the great work our police have done and holds those responsible accountable.

A massive thank you once again to everyone who shared our original posts, provided information and helped us get the word out. ❤️💛

Do you have plans to conduct a hazard reduction burn over the coming days?
The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of a gusty wind change that could affect most of the state from Sunday and into early next week.
The current forecast indicates the change will hit southwest Queensland first but will extend up to North Queensland by Monday. It will leave a dry airmass over Queensland which could lead to locally high fire danger.
Please check your local conditions before doing any burning, as things could change quickly.

This Rural Fire Service Week, we proudly celebrate our incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to protecting our community.

The members of the Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade come from all walks of life, giving up their evenings, weekends and time with family to train, respond to emergencies and help keep our region safe. Whether it's fighting bushfires, assisting other emergency services or educating our community, our volunteers are always ready to answer the call.

To every member of our brigade, thank you for your commitment, courage and selfless service. Your dedication makes a real difference.

A huge thank you also goes to our families, employers, supporters and the wider Bowen community. Your encouragement and support allow our volunteers to do what they do best.
