💜 A WEEK OF ADVOCACY, AWARENESS & ACTION!

What an incredible week of showing up, speaking out, and standing together in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month! 💜

Today, H.O.P.E. Inc. had the pleasure of participating in the University of the Virgin Islands Homecoming celebration, where we hosted an awareness table to share information, spark conversations, and encourage our community to stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence.

A special THANK YOU to our amazing advocates, Nicky and Maudiana, and our Board members, Carmen and Emmeline, for coming out and representing H.O.P.E.! We even had some of our youngest advocates helping distribute purple awareness pins, giving attendees an opportunity to show their support for survivors. 💜

And of course, we couldn’t resist incorporating a little movement, joy, and connection into the experience! Because advocacy can take many forms, and community engagement is one of them!

We’re incredibly grateful for every advocate, volunteer, partner, and community member who continues to show up for this important cause.

💜 Celebrating Survivor Strength, Leadership & Advocacy!

We are incredibly proud to support our very own Kalyn Fahie, Founder and Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a fellow survivor, advocate, and longtime community partner with whom H.O.P.E. has had the privilege of collaborating over the years.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Kalyn will join The Allstate Foundation for a FREE virtual fireside chat, “Empowerment in Action: A Survivor's Story,” sharing her journey and raising awareness about economic abuse, workplace safety, and the importance of supporting survivors.

We celebrate her courage, leadership, and continued commitment to empowering others! 💜

We are incredibly grateful to Crucian Gold for donating $1,000 in proceeds from their sales at the Purple Carpet Bash!

Their specially created jewelry featuring the purple ribbon and beautiful amethyst stone was truly jewelry as art - thoughtful, meaningful, and perfectly aligned with the purpose of the evening. Having their team onsite to personally fit and size our attendees made the experience even more special, giving our guests the opportunity to begin their holiday shopping while shopping local AND shopping for a cause.

And this thank-you belongs to our Purple Carpet Bash attendees, too. You showed up. You invested in the fundraiser. And then you continued to invest by supporting our participating local businesses. 💜 WE ARE STILL TAKING IT ALL IN! 💜

Oh my goodness… our hearts are FULL.

What a WEEK for H.O.P.E. Inc.! From receiving the incredible news that we were awarded funding to expand culturally specific services in our community, to experiencing our very first A Purple Carpet Bash Fundraiser! in honor of survivors, veterans, mental health, and the legacy of Sgt. Bruce T. Gordon - we are positively overwhelmed with gratitude.

Today, we are getting some much-needed REST 😴💜, but we simply could not let this day pass without saying THANK YOU.

🏳️‍🌈 June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

This month, we celebrate love, authenticity, courage, and the right of every person to live safely and fully as themselves.

As we honor the LGBTQ+ community, we also recognize that LGBTQ+ individuals experience sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking at disproportionately high rates. Research shows that nearly 4 in 5 bisexual women, 3 in 5 le***an women, and 3 in 5 gay men report experiencing contact sexual violence during their lifetimes.

At H.O.P.E. and throughout the Girlfriendism community, we believe that every survivor deserves to be seen, believed, supported, and empowered on their healing journey.

This Pride Month, let us continue creating communities where people can live, love, heal, and thrive without fear.
