⚠️Extreme cold shelters open across Logan County

📅Emergency shelters to be available Jan. 26-29

With bitter cold temperatures moving into Logan County, the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning.

Local communities are working together to provide warming shelters for individuals who are unsheltered or unable to safely remain in their homes due to the extreme cold.

These shelters, which will be open Jan. 26-29, are hosted by churches, fire departments, and community volunteers. While hospitality will be provided, accommodations may be very basic. Individuals seeking shelter should bring their own sleeping bags or blankets, chairs or cots, medications, food and drinks, and items for children, if needed.

Pets are not permitted at these locations, as the facilities are not equipped to accommodate animals.

Below is a list of available shelter locations and access information:

City of Bellefontaine
First United Methodist Church
201 N. Main St. (corner of Main and Sandusky streets)
Open beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26. The location is staffed.
Enter through the rear door under the covered porch.

Village of Ridgeway
Ridgeway Fire Department

Village of Rushsylvania / Rushcreek Township
Rushcreek Township Volunteer Fire & EMS
108 S. Sandusky St., Rushsylvania
Available by request. Please call Fire Chief Duane VanBuskirk at 937-441-8837. Transportation within the village and township is available for those needing a ride.

Village of Zanesfield
Tri-Valley Fire Station
2568 Sandusky St., Zanesfield
Open beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26. The location is staffed.
After dark, the door will be locked; press the doorbell for entry.

Residents are encouraged to share this information with anyone who may need a warm, safe place during the extreme cold.
