Today, the wants to honor the legacy of Dolores Huerta (1930-2026), who passed away yesterday at the age of 96.

Yolo County’s long history of agricultural development dates back to the 1850s, and immigrant labor was—and still is—an important component of the success and prosperity of our local farms. In the 1960s, a group of mostly Chicano and Filipino farmworkers fought for better wages and working conditions and formed the United Farm Workers of America (UFW). Dolores Huerta was one of the union’s co-founders and served in leadership positions throughout her life.

Dolores visited Yolo County on several occasions and frequently spoke to students at UC Davis. We are sharing some newspaper articles from a few of those events.
