The future is full of possibilities! 🎓

Yesterday, we welcomed over 250 attendees to the Willis High School College & Career Fair! Thank you to all the colleges and programs that joined us to connect with our students, answer questions, and help them explore the many paths available after graduation.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success and gave our students the opportunity to start thinking about what comes next!

Today, aquatic science students created oil spills to explain the effects of pollution on aquatic ecosystems. Next, they evaluated different methods for cleaning up an oil spill. Lastly, they compared and contrasted the methods and discussed which would be the best for a real world clean up experience and why! These students were spot on and held impressive conversations.

WHS strives to encourage all students to pursue their interests as they continue to build strong academic achievements. A junior (Class of 2028) may select one approved course (worth 1.0 credits) that can be exempt from GPA and class rank calculations.

As a senior (Class of 2027), a student is allowed to exempt ONE course from the GPA exempt list for no more than 1.0 course credits. If a senior (Class of 2027) did not exempt a course as a junior (2025-2026 school year), the senior is allowed to exempt TWO course (or one 2-credit class).

Students and families should carefully consider the effect of exemption on the student's weighted (6.0) GPA, the list of courses allowed for exemption, and other factors such as UIL eligibility. Attached is a detailed explanation of GPA exemptions, including the form needed to participate.

GPA exemption forms are due at 3:00pm Monday, November 6, 2026, in the WHS counseling office.

If you have any questions concerning GPA exemptions, please contact your Alpha Counselor.
