Today we remember Assistant Chief George Parry, who gave his life on this date, October 29, 1955 while responding to a fire. Chief Parry was riding in the officer's seat on an engine responding to a reported barn fire at Phoenixville Pike and Greenhill Rd. The engine rolled over, pinning Chief Parry underneath. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Parry Family, including Chief Parry’s grandson Ken Windle, continued to serve the Fire Company for many years and have helped make this fire company what it is today. Chief Parry's service is honored with a plaque in a memorial garden at the Chester County Public Safety Training Campus in Coatesville. He was also honored by East Goshen Township, by the naming of a residential street "Parry Circle" next to the firehouse.
