Increased Fire Danger Today – Outdoor Burning Discouraged 🔥

Union County is experiencing elevated fire danger today due to a combination of low relative humidity, gusty winds and very dry conditions. Under these conditions, fires can start easily and spread rapidly, even from small ignition sources.

Fire Marshal Jon Williams strongly discourages outdoor burning today. 🚫

Please use extra caution and help us keep Union County safe.

Thanks to our Board of Directors we were able to pass our rescue onto its next chapter, Fleetwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Ashe County. I truly believe in passing things along, just as many have helped our department over the years.
