Waxahachie Fire Rescue was honored to participate in the Ellis County Police Officer Memorial Service. Each year, our crews proudly raise the American flag high above the ceremony as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

During the service, Fire Chief Safford placed a rose on the hearth in memory of the first responders who have gone before us - a solemn tribute to lives dedicated to protecting others.

We stand together with our law enforcement partners, the families of the fallen, and our community as we remember and honor their legacy. Never forgotten.

One of our members had the opportunity to showcase several specialty skills during Career Day at the junior high in Kennedale. Although Firefighter Altom does not work for that municipality, mutual aid is an extremely important part of the fire service. One department may require a specialty skill another city has available, just as they may need a service we provide that they do not.

Waxahachie Fire Rescue is proud to offer many specialty services to our community and surrounding agencies. During the presentation, Firefighter Altom discussed Swiftwater Rescue, Wildland Operations, Dive Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, and several other specialty services our department provides.

We appreciate the opportunity to educate students about the fire service and highlight the teamwork and partnerships that help keep our communities safe.

This specialized training helps prepare our team to respond safely and effectively during flooding and high-water emergencies. We are proud of their commitment to continued training and serving our community at the highest level.

Please join us in wishing them a safe and successful week of training! 🚒🌊

Captain Kameran Miller was recently deployed with the Grand Prairie Fire Department to the Lubbock/South Plains region as part of a REMS (Rapid Extrication Module Support) team alongside members from DeSoto and Cedar Hill.

The teams supported wildfire operations across Texas, specializing in remote technical rescue for injured firefighters on the fire line.

During this deployment, they were attached to a strike team with TIFMAS, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Idaho units. While no rescues were needed, they spent time training and working across the terrain with their partner agencies.

A big thank you to Captain Miller and all personnel involved in this deployment for your commitment, teamwork, and service!

After eight months of dedication, hard work, and growth, these students successfully completed their program and showcased their skills in an impressive fire skills demonstration.

It was truly special to have family and friends join us to support and cheer on our graduates as they reached this achievement. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Congratulations to each of our graduates—we’re proud of you and excited to see what’s ahead! 💪
