This week, we welcome a new class of Rookies to the WFR family!

We are excited to begin this journey with them and look forward to helping them grow into skilled firefighters, dedicated public servants, and valued members of our team. Their commitment to serving our community marks the beginning of something special, and we are proud to be a part of their development.

Please join us in welcoming our newest recruits as they start this challenging and rewarding path. We can't wait to see all they accomplish in the months and years ahead!

This week, our members participated in hands-on Heavy Vehicle Stabilization Training with Adaptive Fire Training Solutions, working through realistic wreck scenarios involving vehicles trapped beneath heavy vehicles. These valuable training exercises help strengthen the skills and teamwork needed for complex rescue operations.

A special thank you to SA Recycling Waxahachie for providing the heavy vehicles and property that made this training possible.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to Tow Pro Wrecker Service for supplying the passenger vehicles used in the scenarios, as well as donating an entire pallet of water to our department.

We are grateful for the support of our community partners who help us prepare for real-world emergencies and continue improving our ability to serve and protect our community!

This week, several of our members traveled to Richland Hills to check on the progress of our new Blocker 2. We are grateful for the dedication, hard work, and craftsmanship that continue to move this project forward.

It was exciting to see the progress firsthand and witness this important addition taking shape. Once completed, Blocker 2 will be a valuable asset to our department, helping us better serve and protect our community.

We look forward to bringing this vehicle home and putting it into service. Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success! 🚒

Last week, Pump Engineer Maples and Firefighter Hardin attended dive training at Wheeler Ranch, focusing on deep diving techniques and full-face mask operations.

This specialized training provided valuable hands-on experience, enhancing their skills, safety awareness, and operational readiness for water rescue and recovery missions. Continuous training like this helps ensure our team remains prepared to serve the community in a variety of emergency situations.

Our members were happy to lend a helping hand with the cleanup efforts at Railyard Park following this weekend's flooding. Once the creek waters receded, they left behind mud and debris.

We are proud of our members for stepping up to help restore this community space and make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Together, we can make a difference!

WFR was honored to be a part of the Carry The Load Ellis County event this weekend.

Chief Safford proudly represented our LODD members during the walk, helping honor the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes and first responders who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make this meaningful event possible!

Waxahachie Fire Rescue was honored to participate in the Ellis County Police Officer Memorial Service. Each year, our crews proudly raise the American flag high above the ceremony as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

During the service, Fire Chief Safford placed a rose on the hearth in memory of the first responders who have gone before us - a solemn tribute to lives dedicated to protecting others.

We stand together with our law enforcement partners, the families of the fallen, and our community as we remember and honor their legacy. Never forgotten.

This week, our members focused on Rescue Training at our Training Tower. These hands-on trainings help sharpen skills, build teamwork, and ensure we’re always prepared to serve our community when needed.
