This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and 9/11 Day is bringing approximately 50,000 people together across more than 50 cities to honor the day through service. Volunteers will come together in Hartford and Bridgeport to pack over 350,000 meals for Connecticut Foodshare and families facing food insecurity across the state.

Volunteers are still needed for the Event Support Team to help welcome guests, lead meal-packing tables, assist with event logistics, and help create an incredible experience for thousands of participants. No special experience is required, just a willingness to serve! Event Support Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, food, and beverages.

Please save the date for this year’s Empty Bowls! Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Potters create beautiful, handcrafted bowls, and guests are invited to enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a donation, guests can keep the handcrafted bowl to take home as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our world.

This year's Empty Bowls event will take place on Saturday, October 17 at CT State Manchester from 11AM-2PM. We are working with some talented local chefs as well as culinary students from CT State Manchester. We hope you can join us! 🥣

We’re so grateful to everyone who participated in the Newington Serves Charity Tennis Tournament! Together, participants helped raise $1,900 for Connecticut Foodshare and our mission to fight hunger across Connecticut.
