🇺🇸 25 YEARS. WE REMEMBER. 🇺🇸

Tomorrow, September 11th, Vacaville Fire Protection District will gather at Station 64 for our annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced an unimaginable tragedy that changed us forever. On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters who ran toward the danger while others were running away.

Those 343 brothers and sisters answered the call, knowing only that someone needed help. They entered the World Trade Center to save lives and never came home.

Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to the fire service will never be forgotten.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memory, their families, their departments, and all those whose lives were forever changed that day.

🚒 343 firefighters.
🇺🇸 One nation.
❤️ One promise: Never Forget.

We invite our community to join us as we pause, remember, and pay tribute to the heroes of September 11, 2001.

📍 Station 64
420 Vine St, Vacaville, CA
🕘 Ceremony begins promptly at 9:00 AM

Please join us.

25 years later… we still remember.
We will always remember.
Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Solano County Animal Control recently responded to a report of a dog named Boy Boy who had become trapped on a steep creek embankment after being missing for approximately 4 hours.

After an extensive search, Boy-Boy’s owners located him adjacent to their property, stranded on a steep 60-foot creekside wall. He was approximately 10 feet below the top of the embankment, with an almost sheer drop-off beneath him. Due to the dangerous terrain, Boy-Boy was unable to climb to safety or descend any further.

Animal Control Officer Dae Kim responded to the scene and immediately began searching for a safe route to reach Boy Boy. However, the rugged hillside, dense blackberry bushes, and numerous fallen trees made access from the owner’s property impossible.

Officer Kim then identified an alternate access point from the property on the opposite side of the creek. After evaluating the situation from above, it became clear that the nearly vertical drop made any rescue attempt without specialized equipment unsafe.

The Vacaville Fire Protection District was contacted and quickly responded with technical rescue equipment and personnel. Working together, firefighters safely lowered Officer Kim down the embankment, where he was able to reach Boy Boy and secure him for the rescue.
Thankfully, Boy Boy appeared to be no worse for the experience and was safely reunited with his relieved and grateful owners.

Solano County Animal Control extends its sincere appreciation to the Vacaville Fire Protection District for their professionalism, teamwork, and willingness to assist. Their expertise and partnership helped bring this challenging rescue to a happy ending and ensured Boy-Boy was safely returned home where he belongs.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from all of us at VFPD! 🇺🇸

As you celebrate with family and friends, please help keep our community safe.

🎆 Reminder: All fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Solano County, including the surrounding Vacaville areas. Even "safe and sane" fireworks are not permitted and can quickly lead to devastating grass and structure fires.

Leave the fireworks to the professionals, celebrate responsibly, and help protect our neighborhoods, our first responders, and our beautiful open spaces.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸🚒
