It’s always inspiring to hear from our youth leaders and their experiences from Girls State! Every time I have listened to the experiences and aspirations of our youth I leave feeling optimistic and inspired! The Cohort of 2025/2026 did NOT disappoint!

These phenomenal young leaders have a great future ahead! Thank you to all those that support our youth (particularly Mrs. Kelli Germeraad) and their development to make our communities and world that much better. ❤️

I LOVE these community service projects when they come to life!

Day 1/2 on 3/21/26 was a HUGE success for this Eagle Scout project! Jovanni, a Scout from Troop 897, has pursued the next phase of beautifying a unique part of our city along a retaining wall that is home to a 210 foot community mural! The mural was an effort to deter gang-related tagging by involving youth from Markham Elementary School, PAL, and Scouts.

The landscape with planter boxes are intended to 1. Decrease blight via weeds and liter accumulation, 2. Place drought resistant pollinator plants, 3. Bring our community together.

Jovanni is still accepting tax deductible donations to replenish his Scout fund, which through gracious private donations has been supported!

Special thanks to Realty, Leroy Family, Villareal Family, Rhoades family, Solano RCD, Castle & King, Johnathan at Home Depot, and Plasencia’s Mexican Food.

If you’re passing by SLOWLY, please thank your volunteers from Troop 897, Pack 484, Vacaville PAL, and Markham Neighborhood Association! Keep investing in our future leaders!

Looking forward to Day2! Sunday 3/22/26, 8-12. Come on out!

First Day of Spring (March 20) 🌸🌱

Spring represents a season of growth and renewal. Plants emerging from dormancy begin to bloom once again, and many animals start to reappear after months of hibernation. 🐝🌼

The changing season can also be a time for landscape renewal. A colorful California native garden offers a vibrant and environmentally friendly way to celebrate spring. 🌿

Although the season for planting many spring-blooming natives has passed, summer and fall blooming plants can still be planted to create a lively and pollinator-friendly garden later in the year.

The Solano County Water Agency offers incentives of up to $1,500 for qualifying projects and provides helpful tools such as plant guides and garden templates. 💧

I attended the Town Hall about the Islamic Center of Vacaville's proposal to better understand the design and to listen to our community. The meeting was organized by the City Planning Department to address design-related concerns prior to the project's review by the planning commission. While many comments were rooted in ideological differences, others focused on design and process - which was the intended purpose of the meeting.

The Islamic Center has been a part of Vacaville for over 20 years, with its members practicing their faith peacefully and without incident. As someone who swore an oath to uphold the United States Constitution, I am committed to protecting every citizen's right to freedom of speech and to the free practice of their religion. To discriminate against any group solely on the basis of religion is unconstitutional and contrary to our community's values.

For those with design-related concerns, I encourage you to reach out to city staff, as those matters fall within the city's review process.

I call upon local religious leaders of all faiths to come together to discuss how we can live with greater love and acceptance for one another. If you are interested, please reach out to me directly.

As a lifelong Vacaville resident, I ask our community to approach those who are different from you with an open mind and heart. The more I have done that, the more I find we have far more in common than not - and that is where our strength and peace truly lie.

The details of the proposal are being evaluated by staff and more information is coming, and I'm here to listen.

Had a good time checking in with Vacaville Chamber of Commerce at Chik-Fil-A in Vacaville for breakfast!

Chick-Fil-A restaurants are all franchises that offer quality food and exceptional service. In addition they have provided scholarships to employees as they pursue their own American dream.

Shout out to Owner Josh Parker and stellar staff for their ongoing dedication to their employees, customers, and our community!
