On Wednesday October 14, 2026 approximately 8:00 o’clock pm officers from the Montague Police Department requested K9 Team Larry for a tracking response in Montague Center. Officers advised a subject was involved in a single vehicle property damage crash and fled on foot. A witness to the crash reported a subject, who was operating the vehicle, left on foot, and appeared to have suffered personal injury.

K9 Larry established a positive track from the involved vehicle north down Main Street into a backyard before leading over a guardrail, crossing back over Main Street, to a yard of another residence. K9 Larry tracked into the woods behind the house toward a heat source located by a Montague Center Fire Department FLIR (Thermal Camera heat seeking device). Emergency management drone team deployed their drone and immediately located a subject running from that location out to Main Street and crossing a bridge to the Bookmill parking lot. The subject was located by officers in the parking lot of The Bookmill. The subject was transported by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries - charges pending.

This incident was an example of emergency assets working together keeping the community and subject safe. Thank you to all first responders present for a quick and professional response.
