🚒🔥 **NEW BRUSH TRUCK PUSH-IN CEREMONY!** 🔥🚒

The Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department is excited to invite our community to join us **this Friday at 6:00 PM** as we officially welcome **Brush 703** into service with a traditional **Push-In Ceremony!**

Our crew is putting the final touches on the truck this week, including getting the electronics programmed, equipment mounted, and everything ready for Brush 703 to begin serving our community.

The **Push-In Ceremony** is a longstanding fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus. Firefighters would unhitch the horses and push the apparatus backward into the station by hand. Today, departments continue the tradition when welcoming a new piece of equipment into service.

This truck represents much more than a new piece of equipment. It represents the hard work of our firefighters, the continued support of our community, and another major step forward in our ability to protect **Huckabay and the surrounding area.**

COMMUNITY NOTICE – SMOKE IN THE HUCKABAY AREA 🔥

We are aware of smoke and the smell of fire throughout the Huckabay area this evening.

At this time, there are NO known active fires in the Huckabay community.

There are currently two separate fires in the region — one to our north and another to our south. With the current winds blowing toward the north, smoke from a large 2,000+ acre fire to our south is being carried into the Huckabay area. This is causing the heavy smoke and strong smell of fire many residents are noticing.

🚒 Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department is aware of the situation and will continue to monitor conditions.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Even though the smoke currently affecting our area is believed to be coming from fires outside our community, DO NOT assume visible flames or a new column of smoke is related to those fires.

If you see fire, see a new smoke column, or believe there may be an active fire nearby, do not hesitate to CALL 911 immediately. It is always better for it to be reported and checked.

Please remain alert, especially with the current dry and windy conditions.

🚨 **WILDLAND FIRE PREPAREDNESS LEVEL HAS BEEN RAISED TO LEVEL 2** 🚨

The **Texas A&M Forest Service** has increased the **Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 2** as wildfire potential continues to rise across portions of Texas.

Areas with below-average rainfall, including the **Rolling Plains, Cross Timbers, High Plains, Northeast Texas, and South Texas**, are experiencing **high temperatures, low humidity, and increasingly dry vegetation**, creating conditions that can allow fires to start and spread rapidly.

🔥 **What you can do to help:**
• Avoid outdoor burning whenever possible.
• Do not park vehicles in tall, dry grass.
• Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials.
• Secure trailer safety chains to prevent sparks.
• Be cautious when using equipment that can produce heat or sparks.

The **Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department** is actively monitoring conditions and remains ready to respond should the need arise. We encourage everyone to stay aware of changing fire conditions and do your part to help prevent wildfires.
