Good news for Suffolk County taxpayers! The proposed 2027 budget includes a 0% increase in Suffolk County General Fund property taxes.

Through fiscal responsibility, careful budgeting, and a commitment to protecting taxpayers, we can continue providing the essential services that our communities rely on, without increasing the General Fund tax burden.

Thanks to the Town of Smithtown and the American Red Cross, trained first responders and public safety professionals will install brand-new smoke alarms in registered homes at no cost.

There are no age or income requirements.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is partnering with local agencies to offer FREE rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets this September.

August 2026 Legislative Recap 🇺🇸

August was another productive month here in Suffolk County, with important progress being made to protect our residents, strengthen public safety, improve our infrastructure, and invest in the future of our communities.

From expanded clean-water initiatives and public health protections to investments in law enforcement, roadway safety, and economic development, we remain focused on delivering results that make Suffolk County an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

I’m especially pleased to see construction underway on Harned Road in Commack, an important project aimed at improving safety and traffic conditions for residents and motorists.

Thank you to our residents, first responders, health professionals, local businesses, county employees, and community partners who continue to serve Suffolk County every day.

This past Thursday, our community came together to honor the life and legacy of Firefighter Christopher J. Revere with the dedication of Chris Revere Way in Kings Park.

Chris was a longtime Kings Park resident and FDNY firefighter who tragically lost his life to a 9/11-related illness. His dedication to serving others and the sacrifices made by Chris and so many first responders will never be forgotten.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11th, this dedication serves as a lasting tribute to Chris, his family, and all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.

Thank you to the Kings Park Fire Department, the FDNY, Chris’s family, his Wife Kim, and everyone who came together to honor his memory.

May Chris Revere Way forever remind our community of his service, courage, and sacrifice. Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Owl Hill Estate Update:

I am pleased to share that Suffolk County has been awarded $500,000 in New York State funding to support the preservation and restoration of the historic Owl Hill Estate in Fort Salonga.

Owl Hill is an important part of our community’s history. The estate dates back more than a century and was designed by renowned American architect Henry Killam Murphy for Edmund Wetmore, a nationally prominent patent attorney who also served as President of the American Bar Association and the Sons of the Revolution. The historic estate and surrounding property represent a unique piece of Fort Salonga’s past.

Suffolk County’s recent acquisition of approximately 27 acres at Owl Hill ensures that this significant property will be protected as open space rather than lost to residential development. The latest $500,000 investment from New York State will help support rehabilitation of the historic main house and garage, including necessary structural and roof restoration.

Preserving Owl Hill has been an ongoing collaborative effort, and we continue to work with our partners at the local, County and State levels, as well as members of the community, to protect this remarkable property and preserve its history for future generations.

This week, I joined fellow Suffolk County officials, law enforcement, first responders, and members of the road construction community to stand in remembrance of Joel Sicon-Porix, a 38-year-old father of three who tragically lost his life after an impaired driver struck a roadside work crew in Nesconset. Two of his coworkers were also seriously injured.

This heartbreaking tragedy is an important reminder of why New York’s Move Over Law matters. When approaching emergency vehicles, highway crews, construction workers, tow trucks, or anyone working along our roadways, drivers have a responsibility to slow down, move over when possible, and remain alert.

These men and women are simply doing their jobs, and they deserve to return home safely to their families at the end of the day.

Suffolk County Police will continue actively enforcing the Move Over Law and holding drivers accountable when they put roadside workers and first responders at risk.

My thoughts remain with Joel’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone impacted by this terrible loss.

Please slow down. Move over. Stay alert. And never drive impaired. Every life on our roadways matters.

This week, Long Island Innovation Park in Hauppauge had its Monument Sign Unveiling alongside local leaders, businesses, and community partners.

Long Island Innovation Park is home to 1,300 companies, 55,000 employees, and is responsible for more than $13 billion in economic output, making it one of Long Island’s most important economic engines.

It was great to celebrate this milestone and recognize the continued growth and success of the Hauppauge business community. Investments in our local businesses and innovation help create jobs, strengthen our economy, and keep Long Island moving forward.
