Our JES kindergarteners are becoming BAT and SPIDER experts-They have been busy discovering all kinds of interesting facts about the creepy, crawly creatures! Students learned the differences between fiction and nonfiction books, and reviewed what they learned by
comparing bats and spiders using a Venn diagram.

And what's better than learning about bats and spiders? EATING them! They wrapped up their learning with some fun (and yummy) bat and spider created snacks!

The students enjoyed a fun-filled performance and then topped off their day with a delicious lunch at Cheddar’s!

Johnson Elementary's kindergarten and first grade students brushed up on their fire safety skills with a special visit from the Johnson Fire Department!

Students learned important fire safety tips, what to do in an emergency, and how firefighters work hard to keep us safe!

Mrs. Long’s and Mrs. Spencer’s kindergarten classes, along with some friends from Mr. Pallock’s class, enjoyed a fun-filled day at Huber’s!

The weather was absolutely perfect! Students picked apples and pumpkins, enjoyed a picnic lunch, and spent time exploring, playing, and making memories!

Kindergarten has been having some FALL-tastic fun learning all about the life cycles of apples and pumpkins!

Students read nonfiction books, learned about each stage of the life cycle, and practiced putting the stages in the correct order. They also had fun taste-testing different apple and pumpkin foods and becoming little scientists through hands-on experiments with apples and pumpkins!

We are excited to announce our upcoming Halloween Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser!

Event Details:
*Date: October 30, 2026
*Time: 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM (Grade levels have specific walk times.)
*Location: Johnson Elementary School Grounds

How Can You Help?
Sponsorships: Each student is encouraged to collect monetary donations from family and friends. Pledge forms and envelopes will be sent home with your child.
All money is due Monday, October 26th.

Participate:
Parents and guardians...You can walk too! If you would like to join us, we would love to have you! There will be a lot of walking, exercising, and trick-or-trotting, so make sure you are up for the challenge!

Donations:
We are also accepting donations of Halloween candy and small Halloween-themed prizes for our participants. Contributions can be dropped off at the school office by October 23.

Costume Guidelines:
*Costumes should be school-appropriate and not too scary or gory.
*Avoid costumes that include weapons or masks that cover the entire face.
*Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking.

Safety Measures:
We prioritize the safety of our students and staff. All participants will be supervised.

We hope you will join us in making this event a huge success. Your support and participation are greatly appreciated. Let’s trick-and-trot together to make a difference in our school community!
