Fiscal Court Awarded Road Fund Request
During the 2026 biennial budget session, the Elliott County Fiscal Court requested over $900,000 in road aid to be added to the Local Assistance Road Program (LARP) to replace dilapidated tile and repave all, or sections of, specific roads within the county. We found out in April that Senator Wheeler and Representative White had secured those funds. On May 21rst, during a special fiscal court meeting, the pair presented a ceremonial check to Judge Lewis and the magistrates.
The roads this funding was awarded to improve are Big Stone, Devil's Fork, and approximately 2 miles of Open Fork. Athough these funds require a 10% match from the county, Judge Lewis can now begin scheduling, after July 1rst, to move forward in switching out old tile, strengthen creek banks, and preparing the roadways for repaving in the upcoming fiscal year. The desire is improve safety and travel for our citizens on these roads for many years to come.
We thank Representative White, Senator Wheeler, and the KY General Assembly for obtaining these funds for Elliott and we look forward for the next round to hopefully secure even more.
