Congratulations to these young leaders from around the state!

Can’t wait until we have a Franklin County student chosen!

Alabama 4-H recently selected a new group of 30 young leaders from 22 counties to serve as the 2026-2027 4-H State Ambassadors.

The ambassadors serve as representatives of Alabama 4-H, promoting its programs on the regional, state and national levels. They help plan state-level events, such as the Midwinter Teen Retreat and 4-H’s statewide community service project.

“Through this experience, ambassadors learn how to work as a team, manage their time, communicate effectively and take on real leadership responsibilities,” said Alabama Cooperative Extension System Specialist Joy Scott, one of the advisors of the Alabama 4-H State Ambassadors. “These are skills that extend far beyond 4-H and can be applied in school, future careers and everyday life.”

The ambassadors also assist with 4-H youth councils within their regions. They spend the year immersed in opportunities to gain leadership and organizational skills, as well as meaningful friendships.

How the 4-H Bake-Off Will Be Judged

To make participation easier for youth across Franklin County, the 4-H Bake-Off will be conducted in two formats based on grade level and school setting.

Grades 4-6 (Traditional School Students)
Students will bring their baked item to their school on their school's designated judging day.
Judging will take place at the school.
Top entries will advance and be recognized according to contest guidelines.

Grades 7-12, Homeschool, and Virtual School Students
Participants will bring their baked item directly to Tractor Supply in Russellville on November 7. Judging will take place on-site during the event. Top entries will advance and be recognized according to contest guidelines.

Why Two Formats?

Elementary students often participate through their local school 4-H clubs, making school-based judging the easiest option for families and teachers. Older youth, homeschool students, and virtual students will compete together at a single county-wide judging location, creating a larger event experience and ensuring all eligible youth have an opportunity to participate.
