Yesterday, the Federation of Social Workers held their 20th Annual Human Service Worker of the Year Awards Luncheon. Among the honorees was our own fallen brother, Lt. John "JJ" Joseph, who received the 2026 Human Service Courage Award. JJ was everything his nominee wrote about him, and so much more! Thank you to the Federation of Social Workers for honoring JJ and all of the other well deserving recipients for the great work that they do in the Rochester community.

These are the children of one of our members. If you have any information that could help get these children back home where they belong, please call 911 and give them that information. Please share this post so we can help get the word out and get these children home safely. We stand with our brother as he goes through this unimaginably difficult time.

Today marks 25 years since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Local 1071 President Matt Murphy was among the speakers today at the 9/11 First Responders Memorial dedication ceremony at Highland Park. This memorial will help to ensure that we always remember the 343 New York City firefighters that made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty that day, as well as the innocent civilians that lost their lives to this senseless act.
