On August 19, 2026, 18 year old, Megan Chandler was arrested for making Terroristic Threats. The details leading to the arrest was that Ms. Chandler had an ongoing fued with a female juvenile. Chandler forwarded an email stating that she was going to the high school with a rifle to shoot this female juvenile, unaware that the juvenile is no longer enrolled in the school system. The School Resource Officers and school officials were informed of the threat and Handley High School and Handley Middle School were placed on a lock down until a warrant could be executed. Chandler was located at her resident, placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail pending a charge of 1st degree Terroristic Threats which is a Class C Felony. The Roanoke City Schools were released from the lock down with no incident.
