May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the University of Minnesota Extension is marking it by hosting a COMET Training on Wednesday, May 27th at the Lions Community Center in Goodhue.

COMET (Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory) is a free, interactive training program designed to help people support others who may seem sad, anxious, distracted, or depressed. COMET teaches a simple strategy that friends, neighbors, and colleagues can use to engage with someone before a crisis occurs.

This is a free event, and ALL are welcome to attend. Registration is encouraged, but not required. Register here: https://z.umn.edu/goodhueCOMET

Questions about this event? Please reach out to Aly Kloeckner at 651-385-3100 or [email protected]

True. But, I doubt enough people realize this or will remember by the time the midterms come around. And, that's exactly what the GOP is banking on.

Our Rep Altendorf gets it wrong again!

Shameful. Outrageous.

Every House Republican voted AGAINST keeping ICE away from Minnesota schools last night. An effort to bring the bill to the House floor for debate failed on a 67-67 vote. TAKE ACTION! Tell your legislators to enshrine these protections for our schools and students into state law now: https://edmn.me/4rWUWwg

No!

Not one country's freedom and liberty has ever been increased by banning books.

You’re not alone. If you’ve heard about people being taken away by ICE and it made you feel scared, worried, or confused, this guide is for you. It’s made just for kids to help you understand your rights, feel stronger, and make a plan together with your family.

You can access the full guide to see tips for specific ages, download a family safety plan, and view this information in Spanish here:

The “organized abandonment” agenda seeks to:

Replace public education and the expertise of teachers with parents being solely responsible for their children’s education;

Replace the expertise of pediatricians and other health professionals with the decision of parents to decide all child health matters;

Eliminate school lunch programs and require low-income parents to find food pantries or charities;

Eliminate food and product safety experts with parents trying to navigate and figure out if food is safe;

Abandon any semblance of gun safety to protect children and put that burden on parents; and,

Abandon government oversight of institutions, which are intended to protect children from harm, and replace with nothing more than parental judgment.

Far-right activists use fear, chaos, division, and conflict as tactics to achieve their ultimate goal of destroying public education, defunding investments in children, and isolating or relying on parents in the name of “liberty.”

They have admitted so quite publicly.
